Hello and welcome to Sensibly Shrewd. I’m Jake, and I’m thrilled you’re here. This blog is a long-held dream of mine, a space where I can share my passion for 3D printing, electronics, prop-making, and all the curious, creative projects that capture my imagination.

A Long Time Coming

I’ve always wanted to do this—to create a place where I could document my journey, share what I’ve learned, and connect with others who love to tinker and make things. But like many of us, I kept putting it off, always finding reasons to wait for the “right” time. Well, there’s no time like the present, right?

Sensibly Shrewd is all about the process—the trials, the errors, the unexpected discoveries. I believe that every project, whether it’s a roaring success or a spectacular failure, has something to teach us. Here, you’ll find honest accounts of my experiences, the lessons I’ve learned, and the joy of seeing ideas come to life.

What You’ll Find Here:

  • Project Showcases: Detailed stories of my latest projects, including the triumphs and the missteps.
  • Tutorials: Step-by-step guides to help you start your own projects, based on what I’ve learned along the way.
  • Reflections: Thoughts on what worked, what didn’t, and how to improve next time.
  • Themed Creations: Projects inspired by the whimsical and wondrous worlds of sci-fi and fantasy, bringing a touch of magic to everyday making.

A Personal Note

Starting Sensibly Shrewd feels like a big step for me. It’s a bit intimidating to put my work and my thoughts out there, but it’s also incredibly exciting. I hope this blog will evolve over time, growing and changing as I do. For now, this is where we begin—together.

I hope you’ll join me on this adventure. Whether you’re an experienced maker, a curious beginner, or just someone who enjoys seeing what creativity can do, there’s a place for you here. I’d love to hear your thoughts, your feedback, and your own stories of trial and error.

First Steps

To get things rolling, I’ll be sharing a few projects that I have already done, projects I have in progress and how I have setup my workspaces to execute on these projects. I’ll be interested to get others opinions, suggestions and advice to improve along the way. These posts are just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us as we learn together.

Thank you for visiting. Here’s to the start of something wonderful.
